Electric bike ECONO Apes SUV EER5 (2026 model)
Versatile trekking-city electric bike with an advanced torque sensor and equipment ready for off-road adventures.

Who is the ECONO Apes SUV electric bike best suited for?
The ECONO Apes SUV model is built on a proven platform with a "low-step" (unisex) frame, but it is primarily designed for cyclists who want more freedom and do not want to be limited to paved city streets. It is designed with larger 28-inch wheels, which roll more smoothly over bumps on gravel or forest paths.
It is an ideal choice for active cyclists and daily commuters who like to turn onto unpaved paths during their commute or weekend trips. The bike puts you in a slightly more active and aggressive posture, which allows for better control and greater dynamics at higher speeds, while maintaining extremely easy mounting and dismounting.

How does the ECONO Apes SUV differ from the CITY model?
If you are choosing between the two siblings from the Apes series, here are the key technical and functional differences:
1. Motor and sensors (Most important difference):** The CITY model uses a pedal rotation sensor, which offers soft and smooth assistance. The SUV model, however, is equipped with a Bafang H400B motor that uses a torque sensor. This measures how much force you are applying to the pedals and adds power proportionally. This is absolutely indispensable for overcoming steep hills and off-road riding, as the bike reacts immediately to your power input.
2. Equipment and grip:** The CITY model has smooth tires. The SUV version is fitted with Schwalbe Land Cruiser Plus tires with a rough, treaded profile that digs into gravel and prevents slipping on forest paths.
3. Riding posture:** The CITY forces the cyclist into a completely upright posture. The SUV, however, has wider and flatter handlebars and a specific stem, which puts you in a more sporty, active posture, giving you much better control over the front wheel on more demanding terrain.

Advanced drive with a torque sensor
The rear wheel is powered by a more powerful and robust version of the motor: the Bafang H400B with a voltage of 36 V and a power of 250 W. The bike assists you while pedaling up to 25 km/h (limited), which ensures road legality throughout Europe.
The motor provides 45 Nm of torque, which is controlled by the aforementioned torque sensor. This means you have the feeling of riding like you know from classic bikes – only with super-strength in your legs. The more power you put into the pedals (for example, when accelerating out of a corner or riding uphill), the more power the motor will intelligently and instantly add.

Flexible Comtron battery ecosystem
The heart of the bike is a top-tier, EU-assembled smart battery: Comtron ELK smart. Because we know that different cyclists have different needs, you can choose between three impressive capacities when purchasing:
Available sizes are 520 Wh (15 Ah), 700 Wh (20 Ah), and for true explorers, a massive 800 Wh (23 Ah) version. The batteries are fully interchangeable and integrated into the bike frame. You can unlock and charge the battery in the office or charge it directly on the bike with the included Comtron 2A charger (for the 700Wh and 800Wh versions, you receive a 4A fast charger).

Smart console with Bluetooth diagnostics
Interaction with your SUV bike is handled by a compact, color display on the left side of the handlebars – the Bafang DP C080. This intuitive interface offers a choice between five levels of assistance: ECO, TOUR, SPORT, SPORT+, and the maximum BOOST mode.
The console has an integrated walk assist function and, crucially, a built-in Bluetooth module. This allows you to connect directly to your smartphone via the Bafang Go App. You can monitor everything from the voltage of individual battery cells (SOC) to diagnostics and advanced lighting settings.

Equipment that knows no obstacles: 28" wheels and off-road tires
Off-road riding requires a different approach. At the front, shock absorption is handled by reliable SR Suntour NEX-E25 Coil 28'' suspension forks, which ensure control over the handlebars on rough paths.
The biggest difference, however, is made by the Schwalbe LAND CRUISER PLUS (28x2.0 / 50-622) tires. With PunctureGuard (50 EPI) technology and TwinSkin sidewalls, they prevent punctures, while the rough center and side profile ensure unparalleled grip on sand and mud. To withstand all loads, the wheels are built with thickened 14G spokes (32 holes) on strong REVO D rims.

Wide gear range and hydraulic stopping power
Trekking geometry calls for speed, which must be controlled safely. Stopping is handled by robust 2-piston hydraulic disc brakes Tektro HD-M280. With large brake discs measuring 180 mm at the front and 160 mm at the rear, the bike stops on a dime, whether it is dry outside or you are cycling in the rain.
For an ideal pedaling cadence, a proven 9-speed drivetrain is installed. The Shimano Altus RD-M2000 SGS derailleur, in tandem with the Shimano Acera CS-HG201 (11-36T) cassette and Bafang CW (38T) front chainring, offers a huge range of gears suitable for steep climbs and fast descents.

Active cycling posture and complete equipment
As befits an SUV model, the cockpit is rider-oriented. The ECONO SUV stem (35° angle, 90 mm length) combined with wide handlebars (width: 700 mm, backsweep only 18°) and ergonomic Velo VLG-1505 grips puts you in a dynamic and precise position.
The bike is ready for multi-day tours. At the rear, you will find an ECONO 29’’ Boost luggage rack with MIK integration for quick attachment of bags. The whole package is completed by built-in front Satelite C19 LED light (DC 8V-58V), ECONO WD216 rear light, and matte PVC mudguards that keep you and the bike clean on gravel.
